In fact, we crafted this candle with paraffin wax and patented moving flame technology to create a natural appearance without the fire hazard. When you turn on your Luminara candle, the batteries send power to a coil inside that generates a magnetic field. A second magnet interacts with the magnetic field to produce random movement for the flame piece.

"These are the most realistic candle I’ve seen anywhere. My fiancé loves the look of birch wood so I was excited when I read they use real birch wood on these candles. I purchased two of these candles with different heights as a gift and they did not disappoint. The flame flicker and color is spot on. She loves them. The other nice thing is all their candles have a matching intensity and color. All it takes is one candle flame to look different and throw it off and make them look fake. All the Luminara candles flames match really nice, even one I had bought 6-7 years ago which still works great. Great purchase!"
Birch is beautiful but not what I expected
"I have lots of candles from Luminara-love them! However I am disappointed with the birch candle. The flame can barely be seen. On my mantle-it just looks like a piece of wood-cannot see the flame. It’s expensive, so waited a while before buying, was excited to get it. All your other candles make a pretty design on our ceiling-the light from this candle cannot be seen on the ceiling, that’s how little the light is. Had to put more candles with it to get some candle light! Again, love all the other candles I have gotten from you…just not this one due to lack of light from the candle."

"This is my 4th Birch covered candle. I love them. I use them everyday. I use them as part of my table scape or on my island. They look terrific on mantle. If you like the look of Birch in nature, you'll live these in your home."

"Maybe three years ago I purchased the large candle and boy did I get a lot of compliments regarding it. So now I purchased the small one to complete the set. Won’t put them out until almost Fall middle of next month, but I love them……. Actually loved every luminara candle I have and I have plenty, and now so do my DIL’s because they are such great gifts and surprises. Love them so real looking."
