When you turn on your Luminara candle, the batteries send power to a coil inside that generates a magnetic field. A second magnet interacts with the magnetic field to produce random movement for the flame piece.

Our LED light shoots diagonally to the center of the flame piece creating an effect that convincingly reproduces the look of a traditional burning candle.

Such bad customer support. I was ignored
"I received multiple candles as a gift. In taking one out of the box, it was packaged improperly, and the flickering candle was bent ,and did not work. I emailed the company ( no response ), I called the company,I got a lot of runaround, ( I can’t return it, it was in the unopened box and a gift!), but they basically would not stand behind their product-and all I wanted was the little plastic piece that was not bent, and I would’ve done it myself, but they would not help me."
